Hello! I’m Niccolei “NICCO” Veronica Cuevas, born and raised in Metro Manila, Philippines, currently embarking new ventures in Toronto, Canada. As a corporate and freelance Graphic Designer with a decade of progressive experience, I have a background in Marketing, Media Communications and a proven track record of working in fast-paced environments with a diverse range of clients. Specializing in art and creative direction, branding, photography, web design and project management. As well as in establishing a strong social media presence and marketing strategy while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. I demonstrate a proficiency in utilizing various software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Figma. Above all, a versatile professional adept at handling a broad spectrum of tasks and playing different roles in a team—a true jack of all trades.
Over the years, I’ve evolved into an objective graphic designer, prioritizing what works best for the client. I adapt to the client’s needs, it’s not about my personal preferences, but rather about understanding and fulfilling the client’s needs. My focus is on shaping the client’s vision, and only after achieving that alignment do I infuse some subjective elements into my outputs, adding personal touches that contribute to creating impactful designs.
While I may not be the most confident verbal communicator, often poking fun at myself when nervous during presentations, I make sure to make an impact by letting my work speak for itself. Though I enjoy sharing ideas in casual conversations and expressing my thoughts, I tend to forget or regret not saying everything during formal discussions, creating a lot of “oh! I should’ve said that!” moments afterwards. I thrive in the shadows of every creation, constantly brainstorming for the next steps and solutions. Embracing the challenge of being resourceful, I believe anything is achievable with time and determination. Personally, I love helping others, whether simplifying someone’s life or sharing ideas that could be beneficial to them. As a graphic designer, I value the thought process behind each project, emphasizing that smooth execution requires thorough research, consideration, and deliberation. While I consider myself a realist, I still discreetly aim high and manifest positive outcomes. This reflects my approach as a graphic designer – aiming for excellence, demonstrating resourcefulness and adaptability, and adhering to a meticulous process to enhance every aspect of my work, ultimately helping brands with diverse creative backgrounds effectively convey their stories.
In addition to my design career, I’ve ventured into various businesses, such as a Kitchen and Bar-style restaurant and a small food establishment located in the heart of Quezon City’s famous food hub in the Philippines. While the pandemic led to the closure of these businesses, remote work and online business was a hit, I adapted by reviving an online food business I had started years ago while doing a few of my graphic design freelance work on the side.
In my pursuit of advancing my career and staying up-to-date with the ever-evolving landscape of media and technology, I continuously explore and study abroad to expand and master my craft. My focus is on Media Communications, immersing myself in its current studies and trends. On a different note, I am dedicated to building my own animal shelter with the aim of providing assistance to a greater number of animals, as I share my home with over 30 cats and dogs in the Philippines, thanks to my family’s passion for fostering and adopting stray cats and dogs, keeping track of the exact count has become quite a challenge now.hehe
