Branding for a food establishment located in the heart of Quezon City’s famous food hub called Maginhawa Street in Metro Manila, Philippines.
History
Sisigainz was founded in 2019 by a group of friends with the same love for sisig that started as a quip in one of their ‘inumans” and sisig as their “pulutan”. A group consisting of a chef, marketing, businessmen and entrepreneurs it was a perfect combination. While it took a lot of research and development to come up with the perfect recipe that will bring a new twist to the original sisig, and a menu that will fit every Filipino budget, it sure was a hit when it launched in April 2019. As a newly opened business the budget for promotions was limited, but the food spoke for itself and the aroma of the sisig cooking in the heart of Maginhawa Street gave a lot of curiosity that invited a lot of customers that turned patrons, and in no time having long lines in the small food place became a daily occurrence.

More History
Sisigainz offers a modern twist on the famous Filipino dish, sisig. Initially focusing on various types of sisig, Sisigainz has expanded its menu to include grab-and-go dishes and budget-friendly options that could cater to students.
Sisig is a renowned Filipino dish that originated as a salad made with green papaya or green guava, dressed with salt, pepper, garlic, and vinegar. Over time, the recipe evolved into the modern version made with pork jowl and ears, pork belly, and chicken liver, typically seasoned with calamansi, onions, and chili peppers. This dish hails from Pampanga region in Luzon, but numerous variations have emerged throughout the Philippines. Which Sisigainz has also developed its unique take on sisig.
Brand Name
The name “Sisigainz” was creatively devised by the founders. Instead of using “sisigan,” an old Tagalog word meaning “to make it sour,” they added a modern twist. The name reflects the protein-rich menu, hence the mascot on the logo looking heavy on gains.
Logo
Some original sketches for the logo, including different options that played with fonts and colors, before deciding on the final design.
The logo is a mascot logo featuring flames on the sides, symbolizing the traditional way sisig is served on a hot sizzling plate. At Sisigainz, however, the dish is served straight from the griddle, where it is cooked and prepared right in front of the customers.

Mascot
Sisigainz uses a mascot logo, ‘Siling Labuyo’ a small chili pepper cultivar that developed in the Philippines. The chili is used as the mascot for the brand because all dishes, especially the sisig variants are served with chili, as one of the key ingredients in sisig is the siling labuyo.
The mascot can be depicted in various poses. These poses are perfect for social media content and can be incorporated into different marketing collateral.
Menu
I carefully curated the menu’s images and terminologies, and also contributed to pricing and selecting the dishes featured on the menu.
